What’s new as of July? I’m a little early because I wanted to be sure you know about the Red Rocks livestream. 311 seems to have switched up companies to run their livestreams so prices seem lower and you will have 3 days afterward to rewatch to your heart’s content. https://311.veeps.com/
In June, we celebrated the band’s 33rd anniversary. To mark the date, 311Archive put together a video about the bandmember’s music origins and how they all met and came together to form 311 in 1990. Detailed accounts from the bandmembers on when and how they met each other, rare photos and clips included. https://youtu.be/41PrCJHMgiY
Nick Hexum has released a new collaboration track with one of his music heroes, H.R. from Bad Brains. 311 has covered H.R. songs before with Who’s Got The Herb, and Bad Brains’ Leaving Babylon. Check out the original track ‘Everything You Do’, which Nick contributed vocals, guitar and synth harp on! https://orcd.co/hr_everythingyoudo
We’ve also got word about new 311 music in the works! In a recent interview, Nick says the band will begin recording a new album in August. “This was not planned, but the first two songs that I brought to the table and the first two songs that Chad brought to the table were all in drop D — meaning having your E string tuned down to D for those heavy riffs. There’s definitely some heaviness going on, big rock riffs. We’re taking a lot of time to workshop them as a band to make sure that they’re kick-ass in the studio before we put them down. We want it to be 311, but 311 on steroids. Better everything: Better riffs, better top line, better performances, new ingredients. We’re setting the bar high and I think people are really going to be excited when they hear it.” View article here: https://variety.com/2023/music/news/311
311Archive is also working on making sure that setlists from shows are available for your viewing pleasure as well as documentation. We will update upcoming show moving forward as we also make sure the backlog is covered since we noted that the old setlist site has stopped being updated.
A new Download of the Month will be coming shortly, but in the meantime, here are a few of our most recent photos and videos that have been uncovered or released. Enjoy!
